Automation:
the plant back in production.

Work on electrical panels, sensors, motors, inverters, power supplies, safety systems and industrial automation components: fault finding, component replacement, restoration of connections and functional verification.

In short

IVEL Energy Group looks after the electrical and control side of industrial machines and plants: panels, sensors, motors, inverters and safety systems. Fault finding, component replacement, restoration of connections and functional verification before the machine restarts. We answer within 8 hours and attend within 24–48 hours, across Italy and Europe; 24/7 for urgent breakdowns.

What it covers

From fault finding to functional verification.

On an automated plant the fault is nearly always a missing piece of information before it is a broken part. The activities are different, and they all serve to reconstruct what happened.

  • Fault finding

Reconstructing the sequence that led to the stoppage, before opening a single terminal.

  • Component replacement

Boards, sensors, drives and power supplies: whatever is at fault, verified before it is ordered.

  • Restoring connections

Wiring, terminal blocks and connections. It is where half the faults that look electronic — and are not — begin.

  • Functional verification

Testing the work: it is not enough that it restarts, it has to restart doing what it should.

  • Safety systems

Restoring and checking safety circuits after the work, because a plant that restarts must restart safely.

  • Commissioning support

Being alongside when a plant or a modification goes into production for the first time.

What we work on

From the power panel to the single sensor.

A plant that stops sends a single signal: it has stopped. Working out whether the problem is in power, control, sensing or mechanics means being able to look at all of them, or you end up swapping boards by trial.

How the cause is found

The plant only says
that it has stopped.

A stoppage never explains itself. The error code tells you the last link in the chain, not the first: a sensor out of tolerance trips a safety device, and the safety device is what shows on the panel. We reconstruct the sequence of the event backwards, and only at the end do we touch the component.

  • Intermittent stop

A degraded contact, a connector that vibrates, a power supply anomaly. We look for what changes with temperature or movement, not for what stays the same.

  • A safety device tripping for no reason

The safety device is almost never the faulty part: it is doing its job on a signal it does not like. We work upstream, to the sensor or the threshold.

  • A motor running hot or drawing too much

Before blaming the motor we look at what it has to move: an increased mechanical load shows up as an electrical problem.

  • The command arrives and nothing happens

We separate the signal from the actuation. If the command is there, the problem is downstream: the drive, the power stage, or a mechanical part that will not move.

  • The stoppage that repeats

Getting it running again is not enough. IVEL also looks for the causes that could stop it again: that is the difference between restarting and solving.

Why it matters

Restarting is easy. Not stopping again is the job.

IVEL's stated objective in this area is twofold: get the plant back into production quickly, and also identify the causes that could stop it again. They are two different jobs, and on an automated plant the second is the one that pays back over time.

  • Fast restart

When the line is down the priority is still getting it running.

  • Verified safety

Safety circuits are restored and tested, never bypassed.

  • Stoppages that do not return

Once the upstream cause is found, the same stop does not come back.

Our process

A proven method, from the call to the report.

  1. Request

The plant, the error code if one appears, and what the machine was doing when it stopped.

  2. Assessment

We read the material and assess whether a site visit is needed or we can act straight away. We answer within 8 hours.

  3. Intervention

We assign the technicians best suited to the type of plant and the type of automation, within 24–48 hours.

  4. Report

Documentation of what was done, and the guidance not to end up in the same place again.

Frequently asked questions

What we are asked most often.

  • Yes, and it is the most frequent case. The priority is getting it running; the search for the upstream cause continues afterwards, because that is what prevents the next stoppage. For urgent breakdowns we are on call 24/7.

  • Yes. IVEL Energy Group is an independent, multi-brand technical company: we are not tied to any single manufacturer, for assistance or for spare parts.

  • First we verify that it really is the board. A large share of faults that look electronic start in wiring, terminal blocks and connections: replacing the board there solves nothing.

  • We restore and verify them after the work. They are never bypassed: a plant that restarts with a safety device disabled is not a repaired plant.

  • We answer a request within 8 hours and attend within 24–48 hours. For urgent breakdowns we are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Across Italy and in Europe. Our operating base is in Tirano, province of Sondrio, but interventions are not limited to the Valtellina valley: we travel to where the plant is.

  • The plant, the error code if one appears, and what the machine was doing when it stopped. A photograph of the panel and one of the wiring diagram are worth half a diagnosis.

Request assistance

What we need in order to open a request.

The plant, the error code and what the machine was doing. A photograph of the panel and of the wiring diagram helps a great deal.

On a plant that is down, the phone is still the fastest way, even out of hours. For everything else the form reaches our office, and we reply within 8 hours.
